Once upon a time, there lived two brothers - the elder one named "Da Niu" (Big Cow), younger one called "Xiao Niu" (Little Cow). They were both English educated. Da Niu could not understand Chinese at all while Xiao Niu managed to write some simple sentences. There was this rather attractive Chinese lady living opposite their flat, and both brothers were extremely keen on courting this lady, although they kept their desire to themselves. One day however, Da Niu disclosed to Xiao Niu his lustful desire for this lady and requested that Xiao Niu help write this lady a loveletter on his behalf. As it is to be expected, Xiao Niu was terribly upset and thus sought to devise a scheme to smear his brother's name. Hence, Xiao Niu decided to make use of his limited knowledge of the Chinese language to write a note which stated : "Da Niu Bi Jiao Lan" (translation: Da Niu is lazier) and sent it over to the lady.To Xiao Niu's utter surprise, this did not turn the lady away from Da Niu. On the contrary, she so immensely delighted when she saw this note and immediately hooked herself to Da Niu. Guess why? The lady had, in accordance with traditional Chinese practice, read the sentence from right to left.
